Metrolink In A Spin!

Manchester Lib Dem Leader Councillor Simon Ashley dismissed today's talk of a Metrolink "victory" as premature and the product of New Labour spin.

"Today's announcement by Alistair Darling reinstates the £520m he previously took away, and hints that there may be some extra money at some point for Metrolink expansion. It is, however, far short of what the people of Greater Manchester wanted."

He continued, "We have the whole tendering process to go through again, and we have

no guarantees of extra cash. The Labour Government get 2 out of ten for delivery, but 8 out of ten for spin."
