Burnage Councillor, John Cameron, has welcomed the decision by Network Rail to clear and clean the railway bridges in the ward of pigeons and their droppings, and to protect the bridges to prevent the pigeons roosting in the bridge structures and so prevent fouling of the highway.

Cllr Cameron stated "People have been complaining about this problem for years and I am very pleased that at long last Network Rail have agreed to take action to tackle the situation."

Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Withington, John Leech, stated, "This is an example of what can be achieved with the tenacity and perseverance shown by my Liberal Democrat council colleagues. I know from my conversations with people in Burnage and Withington how important an issue this is, and I am pleased that it will finally be resolved."

It is anticipated that work will be completed by the end of June. This will hopefully resolve the problems in these areas.
