Longsight Labour candidate gives Bournemouth contact number (Manchester Liberal Democrats Online)

Manchester Liberal Democrats Online

Manchester's Liberal Democrat Councillors, MP & MEP work hard all year round. We are fighting for better public services, and less waste & extravagance at the Town Hall.

Longsight Labour candidate gives Bournemouth contact number

10.31.30pm UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 23rd Mar 2006

Labour's candidate for the local elections in Longsight ward has given a contact number in Bournemouth. The number, which starts "01202", has appeared on leaflets distributed in the Longsight ward.

Liberal Democrat candidate Cllr Mohammed Sajjad, who lives in the Longsight ward on Palm Street, said:

"Labour need to come clean. What is the meaning of this Bournemouth number? Does the Labour candidate work away? Why does she not have a Manchester contact number, as she says she lives in Cheetham? Would she be a weekend Councillor? Will she live in Longsight if she is elected? The people of Longsight need answers."

Cllr Sajjad added:

"I live in Longsight ward on Palm Street. I do not work away during the week. I have a Manchester phone number. But I did go to Bournemouth once - for Lib Dem Conference!"
