Melland High School Gorton Secures Specialist Status

Melland High School in Gorton has been granted specialist school status from next September with the curriculum specialism of cognition and learning.The news has been welcomed by local Councillor and Manchester Lib Dem Leader Simon Ashley.

He said today:

"The Head and staff at Mellands deserve this recognition for the work they have done in driving up standards. With a new, state-of-the art school within the Cedar Mount complex due in September 2008, the future of Mellands within the Gorton community is secure."

From September 2006 Melland High School will have national specialist status, will be the lead school for creative partnerships between Manchester and Salford and will be a Manchester specialist support school.
