Extra Security for Manley Park Play-centre12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 18th Sep 2006 Action from the Liberal Democrat Councillors in Whalley Range has resulted in extra security measures for the play-centre in Manley Park. At a meeting arranged by Liberal Democrat councillor John Grant, the council acknowledged the value and heavy use of the play-centre in Manley Park. They could also see from the list of repairs over the last year that it is suffering badly from vandalism. A plan is being developed to make the centre more secure and this will involve building a complete new fence. In addition they are ensuring that the grounds around the centre are properly maintained. Liberal Democrat Councillor John Grant said: "This was a very helpful meeting. I want to make sure that town hall bosses are just as aware as local residents of the value of the centre and also the problems it has been suffering. We cannot stand back and allow this vandalism to continue. I hope the action plan will ensure it looks better and that, better protected, it can continue to offer young people a valuable facility." ENDS For further information and photos please contact Cllr John Grant
