Manchester Liberal Democrats March Against Blair's Foreign Policies6.35.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Fri 20th Oct 2006
At the recent Labour Party Conference, Manchester Liberal Democrats marched alongside thousands of others in protest at Tony Blair's war in Iraq and failure to call for an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon. Manchester Liberal Democrat Deputy Leader, Councillor Paul Shannon, stated: "We were proud to support this protest. Labour's foreign policy has been disastrous for Iraq, and for the reputation of this country abroad. In 2003 all Liberal Democrat MPs voted against this illegal war. We made the right decision then, and events in Iraq continue to show that Tony Blair was wrong to pursue an illegal invasion of Iraq." He concluded: "I hope that Mr Blair hears loud and clear the message from Manchester - it is "Time to Go" for he and his discredited Government." End
