Chorlton Liberal Democrats Slam Stagecoach "Rip-Off" Price Increase

Chorlton Liberal Democrat Lianne Williams has slammed Stagecoach bosses for axing cheap day and weekly tickets on the 85 and 86 bus routes to Chorlton. The tickets were originally introduced by Stagecoach in response to competition from other bus operators.

Lianne Williams said today:

"We need low bus fares to encourage people out of their cars. Ending the cheap fares after seeing off the competition, like Stagecoach have done, is effectively putting prices up by 42%. This is bad for local people and our local environment, and reflects badly on Stagecoach as a company."

Lianne is launching a petition to encourage Stagecoach to re-introduce the cheaper tickets.
