Longsight Councillor Liaqat Ali Receives Honorary Degree for Community Social Work

Popular Longsight Councillor Liaqat Ali has been honoured during a well-attended presentation event at Longsight's Pakistani Community Centre. The Liberal Democrat politician, first elected in 2003, was awarded an honorary degree in Social Work.

A delighted Cllr Ali said:

"I am humbled and thrilled to be awarded this rare honour. In five years representing Longsight ward, I have enjoyed representing the whole community and taking up important issues for my constituents."

Those attending the gathering included fellow local Councillors Keith Whitmore (Levenshulme), Paul Shannon (Rusholme), John Commons (Levenshulme) and Abu Chowdhury MBE (Rusholme), in addition to a host of local community representatives from the media, faith and business sectors.

The local Metro College of Management Sciences is affiliated with the Greenford University.
