Manchester Liberal Democrats Strongly Oppose Labour's Plans to Close Post Offices Including Barlow Road

Manchester Lib Dem Leader and Gorton South Councillor Simon Ashley has slammed the Post Office for proposing to shut down the Post Office on Barlow Road in his ward.

Cllr Ashley said today:

"This is a well-used Post Office servicing a large number of the elderly and residents without cars. We will be campaigning with local people to save this branch."

Cllr Ashley added:

"Since Labour came to power, over 30 Post Offices have closed in Manchester, with 5 more closures planned such as the Barlow Road branch. I cannot understand why Labour don't use the majority shareholding they have to stop local branches like Barlow Road from closing."

Ends.
