John Leech MP and Lib Dem Councillors Oppose Labour's Plans to Close Parrswood Post Office

Manchester Withington Lib Dem MP John Leech is reminding South Manchester residents that they only have a few days to respond to the Post Office closure plans. Three Post Offices are earmarked for closure in South Manchester, at Ladybarn, Parrswood Rd and Barlow Rd, and the 21st July is the deadline for comments.

John is urging local people to take part in the consultation by e-mailing the Post Office at:

consultation@postoffice.co.uk

John, who voted against the closure plans in Parliament, said today:

"There are only a few days left, and I have submitted over 1450 petition signatures against the closure of Ladybarn and Parrswood Rd Post Offices so far. I know others have made representations too. I urge the people of South Manchester to E Mail the Post Office a message over the weekend- "Hands off our local Post Offices."

Gorton South Councillor John Bridges, whose ward covers Barlow Road Post Office, added:

"So far, over 900 people have signed a petition opposing the closure of Barlow Road Post Office. Let's see if we can break the thousand mark before Monday's deadline!"

Ends.....
