Lib Dem housing Spokesperson Cllr Iain Donaldson has slammed Labour Town hall bosses for proposing a 31.33% rise in heating bills for communal heating schemes. This increase, on top of previous rises, means that heating costs have spiralled by 73.36% over three years!

Cllr Iain Donaldson said today, "Thousands of people in Manchester already live in fuel poverty. The poorest are already paying the highest proportion of their income in taxes. Now, this Labour Council is looking to add to their misery by landing them with an communal fuel increase nearly seven times the rate of inflation."

Cllr Donaldson added, " For many of our poorest families this increase (which is not optional) will mean less food on the table. It is unjust and unfair."
